Swedavia Self check-in kiosk
Swedavia has been providing Common Use Self-Service (CUSS) kiosks named Self check-in at Swedavia airports to our passengers and airlines since 2008. Today we have the product established on all our airports and off airport locations such as airport parkings and hotels with airlines and tour operators producing both boarding cards and baggage tags.
Our Self check-in kiosks have the following functionalities:
- Printing Boarding Cards
- Printing Baggage Tags
- Scanning of barcodes
- Full page passport reading
- Reading magnetic loyalty cards
- Reading of NFC enabled cards and mobile phones
- Possibility to print RFID baggage tags
Join Self check-in
The Self check-in product is included in the Passenger Handling Infrastructure Charge. Any costs occurring due to setup on the airline's side will be covered by the airline. Certification cost may occur depending on whether the airline is certified by Materna or not.
The airline must have a CUSS application, which follows IATA CUSS standard. Request to join is sent to cuss@swedavia.se.

PCI and the use of Payment Cards in Swedavia Self check-in
Swedavia has a high focus on security for our passengers. To comply with PCI-regulations Sweadvia has disabled all possibilities to get full credit card data (payment data) from the magnetic card reader in the kiosk. FOID data and discretionary data will be read according to CUSS 1.3 FOID addendum from IATA.
Swedavia Self bag drop
Self bag drop is the next step after Self check-in. Passengers print their baggage tags at a Self check-in kiosk before they use the bag drop station to drop their luggage. We have built a fast and reliant product focusing on simple, efficient and versatile use.
There are two models of bag drops available at Swedavia; Materna model AIR.Go (Hybrid) at Visby (VBY) and Drop.Go (A) on all other airports. The technical setup is based on web services to the DCS and the airport baggage handling system.

2 step vs 1 step process
Swedavia has a high focus on speed and efficiency at the baggage drop off positions. We have therefore selected a two-step process requiring the baggage tags to be printed prior to leaving the bag at the SBD. Limiting the possibilities and simplifying the SBD-dialogue has resulted in a process where a baggage drop only takes a few seconds.

The solution for SBG is provided by the company Gunnebo. It is a solution based on industry standards and accessed via CUPPS or similar Common Use-positions.
Our SBG solution has the following functionality:
- Scanning 2D-barcoded boarding passes
- Reading magnetic card Reading NFC chip
